Hi Mike
I know how passionate you are about Headsets and all of what a Headset says about the user. I can rememember talking with you about my headset and how I really needed a headset that gave me more flexibility. You suggested the Plantronics CS50 and you also pointed out to me that a state-of-the-art headset like the CS50 says a lot about it's user.
Well that really is the case in Russell Crowe's new movie "A Good
Year".	He plays a high powerred entrepeneur/ executive - a very
successful "big money" man and low and behold - he wears what I am certain is a Plantronics CS50 headset - just like the one that you recommneded for me.
So there you go - it isn't just "the clothes that maketh the man" - it's his headset too!
All the best and thanks again for a great headset

I've found quality of service done on the clothing to be just as important to me as Customer Service. I have fairly limited experience with dry cleaning, but just a few months back I took my favorite shirt to get washed and pressed, and they ran the wash with a blue ink pen in the pocket of one of the articles of clothing. They did refund me the money for the shirt, partially, but it highly irritated me.
Now that I think of it, part of it probably was the Customer Service. They seemed sort of hesitant, and didn't seem very concerned that they had destroyed my shirt.
If they had shown some sympathy I probably would have gone back to them.

Ever watch 24 on Fox? Half of the episodes last season featured the Voyager 510 headset from Plantronics. I can't remember the characters name but he was one of those "in the shadows" governement types.

Happy Birthday! Danny Meyer - the President of Union Square Hospitality Group, which includes Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, defines that level of service as "True Hospitality" - I think his belief is that "Customer Service" is a set of skills that anyone can pick up - but that True Hospitality is something that you have to hire for. Interesting thought. Read more in Bo Burlinghams book "Small Giants - Companies that Chose to be Great instead of Big"

Just the other day i caught 10 minutes of the movie, Two for the Money, with Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino. Matthew's character is wearing a Plantronics CS50 while at work.
Also, on the Showtime series, HUFF, Oliver Platt's character is constantly using a Plantronics CS50 in his law office throughout the first season.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for some other instances of headset usage in the movies or on TV. I watch both of those enough to probably inundate you with more examples than you need. :)

Frankly, I disapprove of people chatting on their cellphone headset while they order coffee. The guy serving the coffee deserves our 100% attention for those 30 seconds when we expect him to give us his 100% attention. It's a matter of common courtesy, good manners and consideration for others, which is pretty fair description of civilization. Or maybe civilization ends when we enter Starbucks. There's a thought!

I'd quibble with you over the probabilities, but in fact it depends on which lottery game you play. In either case, though, I think your gamble is a more interesting one. And speaking of quantifications, you probably already know this site since you know the book, but just in case:

Maybe one day they'll do the economics of being courteous and helpful....

Amen! I agree with you Mike. Whole Foods is a good place to shop, especially if you have a special diet or eating habits (not sure how else to word it)? However, their customer service isn't what you would expect from a store that charges as much as they do and people who work there do seem to be full of themselves.
I was checking out once and commented about the bags or packaging. The lady explained how she had an entire course educating her about the healthiness of the packaging - why not have one on how to properly greet and thank customers?

I've had very mixed feelings while shopping at Whole Foods. Occasionally I feel treated very well, greated with a smile and all, but mostly I'm made to feel like I don't even exist.
I've only ever shopped at the Walnut Creek Whole Foods. Do you find this to be the case at all of them?
